The widespread hotel

The history of the Borgo Ospitale

The story of Il Borgo Ospitale was born after Francesco Bruno, a Lucanian and owner of a drinking water company in northern Italy, decided to invest in tourism and in particular in his hometown of Rotonda, renovating his parents' old house and other structures and houses in the historic center. In 2016, after completing the renovation of the structures and networking them with hotel services, Il Borgo Ospitale was born, classified as an Albergo Diffuso, the first within the Pollino National Park. The project was created to promote local products and economies, countering the flow of emigration from the village to the big cities.

Rotunda

Rotonda is the headquarters of the Pollino National Park and is surrounded by unspoiled nature where one of Basilicata's ancestral tree rituals is celebrated every year. It presents itself as a tangle of alleys and lanes that wind in a play of suggestive views marked by fine stonework, such as the steep stairways that climb up to the upper part of the town, where one can admire the ruins of the castle, the church, and the noble palaces with beautiful finely carved stone portals. The lifestyle is genuine and simple, and its inhabitants have been able, over time, to preserve and pass on their origins and traditions.

The Euphrasia Wellness Center

On the lower floor of Mamma Peppina is The Euphrasia Wellness Center with an adjoining Massage Room. After the Wellness Spa path, it is possible to access the body treatments.

Trattoria "A Rimissa"

Trattoria "A' Rimissa " is the restaurant of the Albergo diffuso, just a few meters from our facility in Sant'Anna near the Piazza. This restaurant was made out of an old garage from the 1920s, where wealthier families would leave the few cars circulating in Rotonda at the time for safekeeping. In the 1930′s Benito Mussolini also arrived, to be treated by Dr. Caporale, a distinguished and luminous physician of the time. The restaurant has a large entrance made of local stone and with a central fireplace that not only feeds the embers for the grill, but also creates a familiar and cozy atmosphere, where one can relive the typical atmosphere of the inns of yesteryear.

The Cooks

In the restaurant's kitchen we find our two chefs Donato and Giuseppe, both from Rotonda, with years of experience and mastery in handing down the flavors and gastronomic traditions of their homeland. In fact, their goal is, in keeping with the albergo diffuso project, to offer an authentic culinary experience to our welcome guests. For guests, the chefs organize cooking classes and related tasting of the dishes made. Every dish that comes out of our kitchen carries with it a story, a meaning and prepared with typical products from the area. Always they will be your guide, telling you our culinary stories .
